We have not addressed this topic for a bit. AD/HD is well known to adults…or is it? Every year we learn more and more about this malady. Our overall understanding of AD/HD has evolved over the years. How is ADHD Affecting my Kid?

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or as it is most commonly known, (ADHD) is a chronic condition that affects hundreds of thousands of children in the greater New York area. It’s Okay…They’ll Outgrow it.

How Prevalent is ADHD These Days?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder occurs mostly in children.  That is rather well known.  What you may not know is that well over six million American kids between ages 4 and 7 have been diagnosed with ADHD.  Symptoms seem to begin appearing between three and six.  The real question is…could one of your children have ADHD, but not yet be diagnosed?

1.  Boys are three times more likely to contract it.

2.  13% of men will acquire the symptoms in their lifetime and only 5% of women.

3.  The average age of an ADHD diagnosis is seven years.
