How Prevalent is ADHD These Days?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder occurs mostly in children.  That is rather well known.  What you may not know is that well over six million American kids between ages 4 and 7 have been diagnosed with ADHD.  Symptoms seem to begin appearing between three and six.  The real question is…could one of your children have ADHD, but not yet be diagnosed?

Here are some facts that I want you to know about ADHD –

1.  Boys are three times more likely to contract it.
2.  13% of men will acquire the symptoms in their lifetime and only 5% of women.
3.  The average age of an ADHD diagnosis is seven years.
4.  It isn’t just confined to kids, either.

As the best parent you can be, it is imperative that you don’t “hide your head in the sand”.  If you suspect that your child has signs of ADHD please call me for a consultation.  My name is Dr. Steven Sussman with an office in Mountainside NJ.  This disorder has been around for over 100 years and it’s time to control it once and for all!  Please call me at (908) 217-8106.

I Wish I Could Afford that.

How many times in your life have you thought that?  Whether the subject is a nice restaurant, a luxury car, or a bigger home most of us have faced that dilemma.  What about as it pertains to your children’s health care…especially their mental well-being?  Now, that’s an issue that may require the right caregiver!

Although private insurance typically covers many health care costs, the challenges faced by families caring for a sick child are nearly always substantial.  These challenges may be exacerbated with mental illnesses.  If you are a parent of a child with special needs, I know that at this point I am “preaching to the choir”.

Please contact me to discuss insurance coverage and payment solutions.  My name is Dr. Steven Sussman.  I have been in the practice of child psychology in the New Jersey/New York area for decades and am now working out of my office in Mountainside, NJ.  Please don’t ever deny your child the proper care because of insurance.  Call me at (908) 217-8106.
