What Defines ADHD?

ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) has been with us for generations.  ADHD is a very broad term that varies from person to person.  The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has estimated that there are nearly 6 and a half million kids who have been diagnosed with ADHD.  There are different types of this malady including inattentiveness and hyperactivity.

It is natural for a child to be fidgety with a short attention span.  However, when this becomes persistent to the point of disrupting their home or classroom then the problem needs to be addressed.  The signs should be rather apparent.  Consistently not focusing on simple tasks or anyone speaking to them is warning sign.  If your child talks excessively, squirms in his or her seat, or interrupts others constantly ADHD may be the culprit.
