Kids in a Post-Covid World.
So many young generations have been shaped by the
global crises they faced. What about Depression-era poverty, World Wars,
fear of a nuclear holocaust? Now add to that the COVID generation.
Thank goodness Dr. Steven Sussman, a noted New York/New Jersey child
psychologist, is just a phone call away!

Helping Kids with Special Needs Succeed.
Isn’t that the goal of every parent…helping your kids succeed in this ever-changing environment? The way children are able to process information varies in perfect conditions. What we need to understand is that kids with special needs such as learning disabilities need to be taught a bit differently.
Here are some recommendations for the teachers who do so much of the heavy lifting –
1. Maintain an organized classroom with limited distractions.
2. Utilize music and voice inflection.
3. Confine your instructions to smaller and more manageable tasks.
4. Give students with special needs plenty of opportunity to succeed.
This is the point I hope that we will all focus upon. What are those strategies that we can employ to give our kids the maximum opportunity to succeed? Let’s work together to help raise your children to adulthood. My name is Dr. Steven Sussman. I am a well-known child psychologist in Mountainside NJ serving the greater NY metropolitan area. Please call me at (908) 217-8106.

Fifteen Million…That’s a Lot!
It sure is…unless the subject is the national debt. Did you know that The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention reports that 1 in 5 American children ages 3 through 17,
that’s about 15 million by the way, have a diagnosable mental, emotional or
behavioral disorder in any given year.
That may not be the most disturbing statistic. This one may be…Eighty percent of them
(that’s about 12 million) don’t receive treatment! Nearly all of the recent research indicates
that serious depression is getting much worse in teens, especially among
girls. I will lay one more statistic at
your feet…suicide rates among adolescent females have reached a forty year
high.
All of these stats are not given to make you panic. I provide them to hopefully motivate you to
seek the help that you may need in raising your child to maturity. Don’t pull the covers over your head! Let’s tackle any and all mental health
problems in your child immediately. Please contact me, Dr. Steven Sussman, at (908)
217-8106 and we’ll talk at my Mountainside, NJ office.
