Trick or Treating.

It sounds like an unusual topic for us to be discussing for a renowned child psychologist, Dr. Steven Sussman of Mountainside, NJ. It might be more important than you think. Here is a tip for later in October courtesy of Dr. Sussman.

Generally speaking, your kid(s) should be about twelve years of age before you can trust them to go trick or treating with only their peers. I advise against them going by themselves. There is always safety in numbers. Of course, there is no magic answer. This is the NYC area after all, so use good judgement in making your decision.

I’m Dr. Steven Sussman…and I approve this message. That message is don’t micromanage, but make good decisions (like you hope your children will) whenever you decide to let your kids out by themselves. One of many reasons why you should talk to Dr. Steven Sussman about your children.
