Should You Hold Your Child Back a Grade?

This is obviously a huge decision. There are many things to factor in when you are considering holding your child back a year in school. If that decision is occurring in the New York/New Jersey area place a complimentary call to Dr. Steven Sussman before you decide.

Throughout the United States a child is most commonly held back in the first grade. What you may not know is that there is another spike at age 12. There is even a law in place in most states that certain 3rd grade students will not be allowed to advance if their reading levels are not sufficient.

As you can see, the decision to hold back your child to repeat a grade is something that should be made in concert with child psychologist Dr. Steven Sussman of Mountainside, NJ. Please consider all of the factors before you decide.
