How is Your Mood?

It is a fair question these days. What mood is anyone in after a crazy 2020 and ahead of an uncertain 2021? Indeed, mood disorders can take various forms in kids as well as adults. They may range from major depressive disorder to less common conditions, such as bipolar disorder and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder…fancy terms for sure!

Major depressive disorder is characterized by chronic feelings of sadness, guilt, or worthlessness. Have you recognized any of these in your child? Other signs of depression may include weight loss or gain, sleeping too much or too little, and thoughts of death or wanting to die. We all know how terribly urgent that may be.

Dr. Steven Sussman will help you find the answers if you suspect that your child has a mood disorder. Dr. Sussman has practiced and taught child psychology from his Mountainside, NJ office for decades and he may well be a great friend of your family. Contact Dr. Steven Sussman in the NY/NJ area at (908) 217-8106. Make sure that you visit his website at sussmankids.com.
