Hip Hop Psychology.

Who woulda thunk it?  Imagine using Hip Hop music to beat the stigma surrounding mental disorders in children?  It seems very Wack Packerish, doesn’t it?  A new mental health initiative is melding the two with amazing results!  It all began at Cambridge University in London and has gained acceptance by some in this country.

Hip Hop Psych is used to overcome the disconnect often caused by the way the music’s messages are relayed by encouraging people to look at its vast references to mental health, from psychosis to addiction to bipolar disorder.  Hip-hop artists use their skills and talents not only to describe the world they see, but also as a means of breaking free.

This is some revolutionary 21st century thinking that Dr. Steven Sussman has used successfully in his Staten Island and Mountainside NJ offices.  New ideas are what growth is all about.  Dr. Sussman will explain Hip Hop Psychology to you and use it effectively if he believes your child will benefit from it.  Call him for an appointment at either office (908) 217-8106.
